The rain let up for just a few minutes Saturday afternoon and we were able to get a handful of shots outside the church, well pretty much outside. Sonya and I photographed Brian Edwards and Dawn Miller's wedding this past Saturday in Laurel Springs. I spent much of the day with Brian as he was preparing for the ceremony. I was amazed at how relaxed he was, in almost every shot I got he was either laughing or grinning about something. Both he and Dawn seemed genuinely happy to be with each other.

We took the youth group from my church to the Corn Maze in Crumpler over the weekend. The maze was just one of the activites available for the kids, along with an airwalk, three "Monster Shot" slingshots to launch tennis balls into a pond, and a tunnel slide. I was driving through Beaver Creek and as I passed by St. Mary's Episicopal Church I saw a line of classic cars in the parking lot. I only had my 70-200 lens with a converter on my camera, so I was relegated to snapping a few shots of the hoods.

Riders from all over the country converged on Watauga County to compete in this year's Blood, Sweat & Gears Bicycle Race. The 100-mile event begins in Valle Crucis, makes it's way into Ashe County, then winds through the edge of Tennessee and then back to Valle Crucis for the finish. Proceeds from the race go to benefit the American Red Cross.

I spent all Friday evening shooting portions of Ashe County's soccer, softball and baseball games against North Wilkes. Ashe's baseball and softball teams pounded the Vikings with scores of 11-0 and 10-0 respectively. The women's soccer team settled for a 0-0 tie.
